Audi Hasn't Been All THAT Secret About A US Release
This reveal hasn't come as a shock to many Audi super fans that follow along closely to the Audi world. There have been rumors being spread around since all the way back towards the end of 2018 that an Audi executive had been pretty loose with this classified information.
In fact, Audi basically gave away the information themselves publicly back in march of 2019 when they posted this tweet:
So, What's New In The 2020 RS6 Avant?
The Audi RS6 is based upon the regular A6 model each year - however there is VERY little that remains the same and transfers over from one model to the next. The A6's RS variant, which stands for Racing Sport, is a whole new beast which holds true to its name.
The 2020 RS6 Avant is so upgraded in fact that the only exterior components that are being transferred over from the standard A6 model are the roof, front doors, and tailgate. These body style changes lead to the RS6 Avant looking like the meanest looking sports wagon on the market, ready to hit the the race track right after picking up your dry-cleaning.
Additionally, the 2020 Avant has extremely thin yet powerful LED headlights that are pulled straight from the A7 and an aggressive looking bumper and grille which adds to the intimidation factor.
On the inside, the RS6 gets a sporty upgrade as well with a performance steering wheel, comfortable bucket seats with luxurious Valcona leather imprinted with a honeycomb pattern, and a dashboard which shows performance output levels so you know just how hard you're pushing it.

Special Tuning - Technical Specifications
As of January, 2020, MTM USA, aka Motoren Technik Mayer, has already successfully tuned the RS6 Avant, increasing the horsepower from 591 to an insane 787. This is an increase of 33.2% through strictly software updates - no changes in any of the stock parts or mechanics whatsoever.
Along with horsepower, torque increased 28.8% to 760 lb-ft. With the RS6 Avant not even out yet available for purchase, the future of specialization for this beast of a wagon looks extremely promising. Who knows exactly what the Avant will be capable of once all of the other tuners and shops get to try their hand at tweaking and improving. In fact, MTM has announced that this is only stage 1 of their special tuning of the Avant. We look forward to paying close attention to what this team, and other talented ones like it, will be able to accomplish.
